Who is a "friend" of Redeemer on Facebook?
Who is a reader of Redeemer's blog: Redeemer Writes?
Who has been on Twitter?
Who uses Redeemer's website: www.redeemer.org regularly?
After watching that video- what is your impression of social media...what surprised you?
Did you know that you can:
- Link to staff and Council email addresses?
- Look at an up to date calendar of events?
- Listen to and watch sermons and Bible studies/classes?
- Make a donation or pledge?
- Register for events, programs or classes (currently a limited feature)?
- Share with friends- info for non-members such as directions and worship times?
What is a blog?
A web-log or journal.
Redeemer Writes is a (virtual) place where people can learn, ask, share, connect and grow individually and as community. Here you will find insights into ministry, both inside and outside of Redeemer.

According to wikipedia, Facebook:
- is a social network service and website launched in February 2004 that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc.
- As of July 2010 has more than 500 million active users
- Users may create a personal profile, add other users as friends and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile.
- users may also join common interest user groups, organized by workplace, school, or college, or other characteristics.
- allows anyone who declares themselves to be at least 13 years old to become a registered user of the website.
At Redeemer, we update Facebook most regularly. Here we post:
- Information about upcoming events.
- Links to our blog posts.
- The menu for each Wednesday dinner.
- Any changes to the regular program/Worship schedule.
- A link to our weekly devotion and monthly newsletter.
- Marketing for any ministry (just email Amber to request posting).
The fan page is perfect for people who want to stay connected to Redeemer, but are not Redeemer members or visitors. The fan page does not include more confidential information about the church or photos of members, rather focuses on telling people what events/programs are happening at Redeemer that they may like to attend.
According to wikipedia, Twitter:
[update]
is a website, owned and operated by Twitter Inc., which offers a social networking and microblogging service, enabling its users to send and read other users' messages called tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the user's profile page.
Tweets are publicly visible by default, however senders can restrict message delivery to their friends list. Users may subscribe to other users' tweets—this is known as following and subscribers are known as followers.
-
All users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website & compatible external applications (such as on smartphones).
Since its creation in March 2006, Twitter has gained popularity worldwide and currently has more than 175 million users. It is estimated that Twitter has 190 million users, generating 65 million tweets a day and handling over 800,000 search queries per day.
If you'd like to receive the Redeemer Monthly e-newsletter, weekly devotion and membercare updates (such as notices about deaths and memorial services).
